Offense aplenty in FCA Impact 11U’s 16-11 loss to Illinois Hitmen

Seven hits weren’t enough for FCA Impact 11U as it lost a shootout, 16-11 in six innings, to Illinois Hitmen on Tuesday at Reed Keppler Field #4: West National Street, West Chicago, IL.

Joshua Collins got a hit in each of his two at bats. He singled in the fifth and sixth innings.

Johnson, Norkus and Johnson helped lead Illinois Hitmen. They combined for eight hits and six RBIs.

The top of the first saw Illinois Hitmen take an early lead, 1-0. Johnson started the rally for Illinois Hitmen with a double. A groundout by Norkus then moved Johnson from second to third.

FCA Impact 11U survived Illinois Hitmen’s surge and put up one run of its own in the first. FCA Impact 11U scored on a groundout by Diego Rodriguez.

Illinois Hitmen never surrendered the lead after the second inning, scoring five runs on three singles.

Two Illinois Hitmen baserunners came all the way around to score in each of the third, fourth and fifth. In the third, Illinois Hitmen scored on a groundout by Keller, scoring King.

One run in the bottom of the third helped FCA Impact 11U close its deficit to 8-2. An error fueled FCA Impact 11U’s comeback. Finally, Santoniello got Diego to ground out to end the threat.

FCA Impact 11U scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut its deficit to four. An RBI single by Justin Lifka, a walk by Levi Gingerich, a steal of home by Justin, an RBI single by Mikey Wright, a wild pitch, and a groundout by Diego triggered FCA Impact 11U’s comeback. Finally, Vidales induced an inning-ending fly out from Sam Lemp.

Illinois Hitmen built upon its lead with four runs in the sixth. The inning looked promising, as Lusk singled, plating Norkus to kick things off.

After pushing across three runs in the bottom of the sixth, FCA Impact 11U faced just a 16-11 deficit. A single by Joshua, a steal of home by Tyler O’Connor, and a wild pitch sparked FCA Impact 11U’s rally. Illinois Hitmen closed the game out when Vidales got Gannon Hosticka to strike out.
