In 2017 our 13U team took a trip to the Dominican Republic for a week of service and baseball. For most baseball clubs the pinnacle of youth travel baseball is a trip to a large tournament with teams from all over the region or even the country. We wanted to take a different approach that better reflected our core beliefs and philosophy toward youth sports. In partnership with GO Ministries, a Christian mission on the ground in Santiago, Dominican Republic, we sent our 13U team and their dads on a trip that many claim was life-changing.
Our intent is for every 13U team to take this trip and spend a week serving people alongside their dads, learning life lessons on and off the baseball field.
Goals for the trip:
Develop purpose, character, & integrity in our boys as well as in the boys in the DR
Serve the people in the DR through service projects and build relationships with them through baseball
Instill compassion & perspective in our boys through this life-shaping experience
Provide examples of strong male leadership for our boys and the boys in the DR, where it is so often lacking
Share God’s love with the people in the DR
