WHAT IS THE MAKE AN IMPACT CLASSIC?
The Make an Impact Classic (MAIC) is a unique baseball tournament. Our goal is for all teams to not only experience a solid weekend of competitive baseball but also have the opportunity to partner with us in “making an impact.”
All net proceeds go toward our annual 13U teams’ father-son baseball mission trip to the Dominican Republic, which is the capstone of our program. Our partner in this endeavor is GO Ministries, based in the DR. While in the DR the teams play baseball games against Dominican teams, work on a construction or service project within a community, and spend time with and serve underprivileged kids at some local churches. It is a truly life-changing trip!
For more information, including videos from previous trips, please see HERE.
WHAT MAKES THIS TOURNAMENT UNIQUE?
Beyond the fundraising focus for our DR trip, there are two other primary distinctives that make this tournament unique:
Gold & Silver Brackets: After pool play, teams will be divided into Gold and Silver brackets. Our goal for this tournament is to engender competitive sportsmanship. Rather than define a target team level for this tournament, we want to create a tournament that will be strongly competitive for as many teams as possible. To that end, if your team is a truly elite team (you know who you are), we would suggest that this may not be a great fit for you. We believe that dividing the pool into Gold and Silver for bracket play will create for a better experience for everyone and increase the odds of playing meaningful games deeper into the tournament.
John Roman IMPACT Player Award: At the end of each game (minimally all pool play games), both managers will vote for one player from the opposing team and one player from their own team who exemplified the characteristics of what IMPACT stands for: Integrity, Maturity, Perseverance, Attitude, Character, Team Player. The player that receives the most votes per age group is recognized as the John Roman Impact Player for the tournament.
Refund Policy: We offer a very generous refund policy. If any scheduled tournament games are canceled at any time due to weather, field conditions, or darkness, FCA Impact Baseball will issue refunds as delineated below. (This is in effect for any canceled games due to the above circumstances regardless of when the weather, field conditions, darkness took place during the weekend as often times earlier weekend canceled games can lead to shortened format/games later on in the weekend.)
